Occupation interior decorator
Interior decorators plan and implement decoration schemes for homes, offices, shops and other spaces.
Tasks
- Confer with clients to obtain relevant information, e.g. about their budget, ideas and requirements.
- Gather relevant information for the design, e.g. by taking measurements of the premises or by reading drawings.
- Make initial design sketches for client approval.
- Advise clients on interior decoration, e.g. selection of colour schemes, layout, lighting, furniture, floor coverings, curtains, paint, wallpaper and artwork.
- Estimate materials requirements and costs.
- Sell furnishings and furniture to clients.
- Make a design, e.g. on a computer, and revise if necessary.
- Present the design to the client.
- Coordinate the installation and arrangement of furnishings and furniture.
